Bieber.Tems unveiled her debut album Born in the Wild on Monday (April 15), one day after her Coachella performance, which featured Wizkid and Justin Bieber performing the Billboard Hot 100 No. 9 “Essence” remix.
The Nigerian singer-songwriter shared a one-minute video promoting her album, which will be published in May. The video appears to depict scenes from Tems’ childhood, such as children roaming around the seashore.
“It’s all over the news, all over the news, I notice/ Under the sun, struggling to find my focus/ When I was young, younger than my mind as always/ Runnin’ away,” she says before leading into the album title chorus. “Born in the wild. “The Album. May 2024,” she captioned the video on Instagram and X.
Tems dropped two solo singles at the end of last year: “Me & U” and “Not an Angel.” She sang “Not an Angel” for the first time at Billboard Women in Music in March, where she also won the Breakthrough Award.
“I really want to take this chance to tell all of the women in this room and throughout the world that no matter what you’re going through, you’re not alone. So, even if you’re unhappy or angry, someone else is also angry. So uplift everyone around you because they need it just as much as you do, and someone is there for you,” she added in her acceptance speech. “It’s the women that got the women, trust me.”
